01About HUNG JUNG
What kind of company is HUNG JUNG?
HUNG JUNG Steel Bottle Co., Ltd. was founded in 1978 in Longtan, Taoyuan, Taiwan. It designs and manufactures pressure and non-pressure, stationary and portable carbon steel and stainless steel vessels and heat exchangers, built to order. The site covers 8,271 m² with 14,050 m² of plant floor.
Which industries does HUNG JUNG serve?
Mainly industrial gases, semiconductors, displays, petrochemicals, chemicals and biotech/pharma. End users in our references include TSMC, UMC, AUO, Formosa Plastics, Nan Ya Plastics, CPC Corporation, San Fu Gas and Adimmune, as well as petrochemical and display plants in China and Türkiye.
How large a vessel can HUNG JUNG build?
The largest single vessels in our references are a 165 m³ gaseous oxygen buffer tank and a 187 m³ buffer tank. The plant has two 60-ton overhead cranes, a 500-ton hydraulic press, three plate rolling machines and twelve ESAB automatic submerged-arc welders.
02Certification and codes
What does the ASME U stamp mean?
The ASME Certification Mark with the U designator shows the manufacturer is authorised by ASME to build pressure vessels to Section VIII, Division 1 of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. U2 and U3 cover Divisions 2 and 3 (high-pressure vessels).[1]
What is the National Board "R" certificate?
The "R" Certificate of Authorization from the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors authorises the holder to repair and alter boilers and pressure vessels under Part 3 of the National Board Inspection Code (NBIC) and to use the "R" symbol stamp. Certificates are valid for three years.[2]
How are pressure vessels classified in Taiwan?
Under the Boiler and Pressure Vessel Safety Rules, vessels that receive external steam or another heating medium to heat their contents with internal pressure above atmospheric are Category 1. Vessels holding gas at 2 kg/cm² (0.2 MPa) or more with an internal volume of 0.04 m³ or more (or an inside diameter of 200 mm or more and length of 1,000 mm or more) are Category 2. High-pressure gas equipment falls under the high-pressure gas regulations.[3]
What inspections does a Category 1 vessel need in Taiwan?
Under the Safety Inspection Rules for Dangerous Machinery and Equipment: a welding inspection before fabrication, a construction inspection when the body is complete, and a completion inspection after installation before use. In service, an external inspection at least once a year, with internal inspection intervals depending on the application.[4]
What is ISO 9001?
ISO 9001 is the International Organization for Standardization’s standard for quality management system requirements. The current edition is ISO 9001:2015.[5]
03Materials and design
What is SA-516 Gr.70?
SA-516 is ASME’s adoption of ASTM A516, "Pressure Vessel Plates, Carbon Steel, for Moderate- and Lower-Temperature Service". Grade 70 is a common strength grade for tanks, buffer vessels and heat exchanger shells.[6]
What is the difference between 304L and 316L?
Both are low-carbon austenitic stainless steels; low carbon reduces intergranular corrosion risk after welding. 316L also contains molybdenum, which improves resistance to chloride pitting and crevice corrosion, so it is common in chemical, pharmaceutical and pure water service.
What design conditions should I send with an inquiry?
Design pressure, design temperature, volume or dimensions, material, medium, applicable code, quantity and expected delivery. Drawings or specifications are welcome.
04Transport containers
Which code governs UN portable tanks?
Chapter 6.7 of the IMO International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code. The 2024 Edition (Amendment 42-24) is mandatory from 1 January 2026.[7]
How often are UN portable tanks inspected?
Before first use, then a periodic inspection at least every five years with an intermediate inspection midway, about every 2.5 years (IMDG Code 6.7.2.19).[8]
